Sheriff Scott selected for award committee again
On Wednesday, Feb. 16, the Anti-Defamation League for the Florida Region met to review and select the winner of the Excellence in Law Enforcement Award for 2010. This marks the third consecutive year that Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott has been asked to be on the Selection Committee. Other committee members include Police Chiefs, Sheriffs, State Attorneys, the FBI and civilians from across Florida for a total of 15 participating members.
The ADL’s Excellence in Law Enforcement Award is unique in the country. No other organization publically recognizes leadership in law enforcement in the area of hate crimes, domestic terrorism, civil rights, and public-private partnerships like the ADL.
The 2010 winner was the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Haiti relief efforts.
“Initially being selected to serve on this prestigious, statewide committee was an honor; however, being invited back for the third straight year means a lot,” said Sheriff Mike Scott. “I am proud to be part of this organization and effort, and I look forward to participating again next year if asked to do so.”
