Resident gives support to candidacy

2 min read

To the editor:

Residents and voters of our Island community, I offer this letter of support to encourage my friend, Carl Conley, to enter the next election as a candidate for Town Council. Who could represent citizens, the business owners, and us in a more positive manner?

He is the former owner of the Island Sand Paper and wrote weekly editorials about the needs of our community. Carl also covered the events and happenings held on our Island with open and honest commentary. He has been and continues to be an active member of the community having served as Chairman of the Board for the local Chamber of Commerce, putting it on secure financial footing during his tenure. He also organized and started the Island Arts Foundation with regular theater presentations at different locations on our Island and then purchased a building for its use. This effort has brought many widely known entertainers to our community and we have enjoyed them.

His personal friendship with Senator Bill Nelson, Sheriff Mike Scott and Commissioner

Ray Judah have all led to personal gains for our community, and they all support his continued community effort. He is certainly an articulate speaker and a solid thinker.

Please join with me and, when you see him next, extend a pleasant hand to him and ask him to run as our representative. We will all end up winners if we can accomplish this.

W. H. “Bill” Van Duzer
