Prayer is acceptable in silence
To the editor:
After reading that poem from a 5th grader (and his parents) in last week’s paper, I hope someone lets the child know that he can pray silently any time he wants, God hears.
He doesn’t have to bow his head, God hears.
Any free time in school, he can meditate, quote the Bible silently, recite the 10 commandments, God knows and understands.
And when he wants instruction in religion, his own church is quite willing, appropriately, to take that on. This great nation, quite appropriately, allows everyone to do this, using his or her own religious convictions.
