‘Ebenezer Scrooge, The Musical’ to be open Wednesday

By Staff | Dec 6, 2010

“Ebenezer Scrooge, The Musical” will be presented by local playwright Robert Feigenblatt at the First Christian Church of Cape Coral starting Wednesday, Dec. 8, and running through Sunday, Dec. 12.
Feigenblatt said he wrote the music, lyrics and arranged the music to go along with the adoption of the Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol,” which premiered last December at the Cultural Park Theatre.
The encore presentation will have a cast of 20 people, which is different from its original debut last year.
Theater, film and music have always been of interest to Feigenblatt, but not until four years ago did he really dive into his passion.
“I like writing music for theatrical or dramatic presentations,” he said. “I like writing music that has a function.”
He decided to compose “Ebenezer Scrooge,” which took him seven months to complete, because he has always loved Christmas time, along with the Dickens story.
“It was relatively easy to come up with the song,” Feigenblatt said, adding that he advanced the plot a little more, along with adding songs because they are intricate in moving the story forward.
“Ebenezer Scrooge, The Musical” is directed by Lois Kuehne and the musical direction is by Randy Dawkins.
Tickets with a buffet dinner are $20 for adults, $17 for students and $15 for children 9 years old and younger. For those who wish to attend the performance only can purchase tickets the night of the show for $10.
Feigenblatt said he will donate the ticket sales to the church to pay for the costs of putting the show on.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The musical is an hour and a half long.
He said everyone should “give themselves and their family an early Christmas present and watch ‘Ebenezer Scrooge’ redeemed.”
First Christian Church is located at 2620 Country Club Blvd.
