TIB reports ‘glitches’ in transition from Riverside
After a few unexpected glitches, Naples-based TIB Bank has completed its integration with Riverside Bank of the Gulf Coast.
TIB took over the failed bank’s deposits after it was shut down by regulators in February. Over the weekend, Riverside’s accounts were merged into TIB’s banking system.
Former Riverside customers were unable to use online banking over the weekend to pay bills or do other money transfers. They must set up new accounts online and activate new debit cards.
A few customers found themselves in limbo Monday morning when the toll-free number to activate their new TIB debit cards went down. A few had trouble setting up their new online accounts.
But overall the transition was smooth, said Ed Crann, an executive vice president for TIB.
TIB was able to activate debit cards on its ATM machines while the 800 number was down for several hours Monday. Crann said staff is available to help customers through the process of opening new online accounts.
“We had a few small glitches this morning,” he said Monday. “But everything is fine.”
TIB has retained about 96 percent of the deposits it assumed from Riverside, Crann said.
All of Riverside’s branch offices remain open in Lee and Charlotte counties. The bank, headquartered in Cape Coral, was the 11th in the country to fail in 2009.
