Martha Marie (Keytack) Meyer

Martha Marie (Keytack) Meyer of Fort Myers Beach passed away on June 7,

2009, two months shy of her 98th birthday. She lived a vibrant life until

she suddenly succumbed to heart complications. She was born in Johnstown,

Penn., August 7, 1911.

After her husband retired from the Army, the family moved back to their

hometown of Johnstown then moved in 1959 to Fort Myers Beach where they were active in many Beach organizations. Martha was one of the founders of the Beach Shrine Club’s 850 Boosters Club on San Carlos Blvd.; was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star; and an officer of the Daughters of the Nile; and the Beach Woman’s Club. She attended the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres.

Martha was the wife of the late Major Louis Albert Meyer, Sr. who died in

1981. She is survived by her children, Louis Jr. (Annetje) of Corea, Maine

and Christine (Tucker) Patton of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla; her grandchildren,

Casey Patton Lyon (Andrew) of DeBary, Fla., Darby Patton of Fort Myers Beach, and Matthew and Nathaniel Meyer of Portland, Maine; her great grandsons, Aidan and Bodhi Lyon, her sister, Mary Kindja, of Johnstown, PA, along with many nieces and nephews. She had six brothers and two sisters who predeceased her.

Fort Myers Chapter #31 OES will conduct a service on Saturday, June 20,

2009 at 10 a.m. in the Affordable and Trusted Cremation Center at Horizon Funeral Home, 1605 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers where the family will

receive friends after 9 a.m. Parking on premises, friends may sign the

guest book at www.horizoncremation.com

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Myers Beach Shrine
