By Staff | Jun 10, 2009

Four Beach rockers came together to form the group Anthem, performing a mix of rock music from yesterday and today, on top of plenty of originals. Look forward to seeing these guys at their debut show Friday, June 19, at Tropics, 8 p.m. Photo courtesy of BEVERLY TOPE.

A new band has been born on the beach, releasing its raw power to the island during a debut gig next Friday. Anthem, a collaboration of four beach rockers Daizy Aimless, John Hyatt, Scott Andrews and John Lacondrata will show their rock n’ roll skill at Tropics Friday, June 19, at 8 p.m., with 96 K-Rock hosting a live broadcast from the party.

“While doing the duo (known as Elijah) with Daizy, we were talking about putting together a band, wanting to do something different,” John Hyatt, Anthem’s lead guitarist, said.

Practicing for nearly three months, Anthem performs an array of rock n’ roll goodness, from classic to new age and everything in between.

John said Anthem’s rock routine varies from Tesla, Zeppelin, Bad Company, Ozzy, Tom Petty, REO Speedwagon and Neil Young to Velvet Revolver, Maroon 5, Green Day, Alice in Chains and Foreigner.

But that’s not all. The new group also managed to squeeze in some fresh originals to its already jam-packed set list. (Look forward to an album coming soon).

“We’re all looking forward to working with Danny (co-owner of Tropics)” John said. “It’s refreshing to have someone willing to work with a variety of music.”

Danny, too, is eager to have Anthem join his list of live music entertainment.

“I’m psyched. We’ve had Daizy and Johnny at Tropics before, and they’ve got incredible talent,” Danny said. “They’re going to bring a different element to the band’s norm around here, bringing in high-energy rock and roll.”

During the debut show, expect food and drink specials, along with plenty of giveaways from 96 K-Rock’s live remote broadcast 7 to 9 p.m. A live DJ will rock the house during the group’s set breaks, as well as after the show, mixing in lots of original mash-ups. After that, be ready to rock out to Anthem regularly at Tropics every Thursday night, starting at 10 p.m.

But that’s not all, folks. Danny said the first 20 people to show up for Anthem’s debut show Friday will receive V.I.P. treatment, complete with 20 percent off anything in the lounge.
