Cape Coral Police Chief Rob Petrovich said today there is no change in the condition of an officer injured in a motorcycle crash.
“There has been no significant change in Officer Damien Garcia, and he remains in critical condition in ICU at Lee Memorial Hospital,” Petrovich said in a prepared statement. “We continue to remain hopeful and ask that the community keep Officer Garcia and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
“Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department will maintain their vigil at the hospital, and provide support and comfort for the family of Officer Garcia. Our officers continue to be heartened by the show of support from the community and fellow law enforcement agencies. While we are not soliciting any funds for Officer Garcia or his family, we do recognize that there are those who feel the need to help. For those particular individuals, our FOP has set up a fund at TIB Bank locations. They can deposit cash or checks in a Special Needs Account in C/O FOP Lodge 33.”

Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department have been receiving calls from various individuals and groups asking how they can donate funds to help assist the family of Garcia, who was injured Tuesday when a vehicle pulled out in front of him on Cultural Park Boulevard, which was wet with rain.
Garcia’s parents and other family members live in Miami, however, they are staying in Fort Myers to provide support and be with the officer as he fights for his life at Lee Memorial Hospital, officials said.
