Earnest Giving events this weekend
One of the NFL’s finest — and Lee County’s own — Earnest Graham will be returning to the area for his Earnest Giving weekend. The event is scheduled over three days and involves various events and activities to raise money for charity.
On Friday, May 15, a basketball game will be held at Dunbar High School, which used to be the middle school Graham attended. Various NFL players and other celebrities are scheduled to participate in the exhibition game.
And there will be a “celebrity” coach at the helm of one of the squads — Dr. James Browder, superintendent of schools, will be leading one of the teams.
The game is scheduled at 7 p.m. in the Dunbar High gym, 3800 E. Edison Ave., Fort Myers. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for anyone 18 years old or younger.
On Saturday, May 16, the show moves to Pin Street bowling alley (formerly Galaxy Lanes),) 4140 Fowler St., Fort Myers. Again, NFL stars — including some of Graham’s teammates from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — are scheduled to participate. The event is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Then on Sunday, May 17, Graham will have a local street named in his honor. Earnest Graham Avenue will be dedicated starting at noon near Jefferson and Collins in Fort Myers.
