Community invited to ‘Blow the Whistle on Asthma’

By Staff | May 12, 2009

May is Asthma Awareness Month and staff members at The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida are hosting a fun-filled educational event that will provide multiple learning stations to highlight pediatric asthma education and control strategies.
The event will be held Wednesday, May 20 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, HealthPark Medical Center Atrium, 9981 S. HealthPark Drive, Fort Myers.
Asthma is commonly seen in children and is a leading cause of hospital stays and school absences. Children with asthma may be able to breathe normally most of the time. When they encounter a substance that can cause problems (a “trigger”), an asthma attack (exacerbation) can occur.
Come out and tour our booths and learn more about treating asthma symptoms effectively.
The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, located within HealthPark Medical Center, is part of the Lee Memorial Health System in Lee County, Florida.
