Town celebrates Arbor Day

1 min read

National Arbor Day was celebrated at Town Hall on Fort Myers Beach Friday by Estero Island Garden Club members and Town of Fort Myers Beach staff. The celebration began with Councilwoman Jo List reading the Arbor Day Proclamation and a letter read to Town staffer Jim Carrasco. A tree was planted in memory of Jose Carrasco who passed away March 15th. It was Jim’s wish that a tree be planted in his father’s memory.

Afterwards, the group drove to the Mound House on Connecticut Street where residents of the Beach picked up their purchased trees from the ongoing half price sale.

A total of 118 trees were sold on Arbor Day: 17 Live Oak, 23 Christmas

Palms, 33 Jatrophas and 45 Crape Myrtles.

The Town was pleased with this number and wishes to thank the Observer staff for their assistance in covering our information almost weekly. It was

through your efforts we were successful. Thank you.
