Reader doesn’t like pork barrel spending
To the editor:
It’s business as usual and it stinks: pork barrel spending, closed door deals, crooked politicians and broken promises.
The people as always are suffering, losing confidence, feeling betrayed and feeling a deep-seated sadness.
It appears as if the “powerful” in Washington have overwhelmed a young, inexperienced president and succeeded in turning hope upside down.
If we are to survive, the president meeds to immediately put the brakes to this thoughtless mad dash. At this point, we want to believe President Obama is well-intentioned and sincere. He needs to step back, take a deep breath and refocus on the problems of America, his promises to the American people and whether his staff is undermining his declarations: more than 8,000 pork barrel ear marks; cabinet people who can’t be trusted by tax-paying citizens; “old dogs” who won’t consider new tricks like his top advisors; and being pushed around by the “wackos” in Congress that got us into this mess in the first place.
Before we wield totally out of control, there is still time to fix it. Let’s start focusing on the people, not the politics. That’s our hope.
