Deputies seek grocery store robbers
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in apprehending two suspects wanted for a robbery that occurred at Maz Grocery on April 12.
Deputies responded to the store at 302 Center Road, Fort Myers, at approximately 8:59 p.m. after receiving a report of an armed robbery. A store employee told them two men entered, both brandishing firearms. One of the suspects ordered the employee to turn around and face away from the suspects. The employee complied while the robbers went behind the counter and searched the area near the cash register.
Once the gunmen left the store, the employee took inventory and discovered the robbers had made off with multiple cartons of cigarettes as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.
The store employee was not injured during the incident.
Suspect No. 1 is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark blue jeans, black sneakers, and black gloves. Suspect No. 2 is described as a black male, 5’10” with a heavy build. He was wearing a Tan t-shirt, blue jeans, and gloves.
Due to the nature of the crime, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation.
