U.S. Postal Service increases stamp rates; Effective May 11

The United States Postal Service will have its annual rate increase

for mailing letters and packages on May 11, 2009.

Letters will be 44 cents.

Post cards will be 28 cents.

Priority Mail will be from $4.95 (based on weight and distance).

Express Mail will be from $13.05 (based on weight and distance).

The average increase by class of mail is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index.
