By Staff | Apr 9, 2009

Final match of A-Team Challenge 2009 ended with Gulf Coast High School as the winner and Cape Coral High School as the runner-up. This exciting match will air on Saturday, April 25, 7 – 8 p.m. on NBC-2. Semi-Final games will air on NBC-2 on Sunday, April 19, starting at noon.
“We congratulate all thirty-one teams that competed in this year’s A-Team Challenge. The intelligence and poise demonstrated by these highly motivated students is inspiring” said Marshall T. Bower, Esq., executive director of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. “It is rewarding to see such good sportsmanship and such a high level of intelligence among our area youth” said Program Manager, Bev Burke.
The A-Team Challenge is a major project of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc., in partnership with NBC-2 and The School District of Lee County. The A-Team Challenge was made possible with sponsorships by The Bonita Bay Group, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Suncoast for Kids Foundation.
The A-Team Challenge is hosted by NBC-2 News anchor Craig Wolf. It recognizes academic excellence and fosters pride and a spirit of competition among area high school students, coaches and teachers. Students answer questions in the areas of language arts/humanities, social studies, math and science. The questions are prepared and monitored by a panel of volunteer judges having expertise in those fields.
Each team is comprised of four participating students and up to four alternates. Not only are students the competitors in the A-Team Challenge but the show is produced by Lee County public school students working with adult mentors from the School District. The A-Team Challenge can also be seen on Comcast cable’s education channel and the following Web site:
