To the editor:

On behalf of the Estero Island Historic Society, we would like to thank the Observer for their assistance in recognizing our annual boat tour this season. We especially thank all who jumped aboard and supported us in this event and hope you will again the following year.

Captains Bob and Jody of The Beachcomber Boat Tours made our sightly windy passages safe and fun as they too added sightings – enhancing our historic narrated points of interest.

We especially want to thank both Wachovia Beach banks with their assistance again this year in making tickets sales available and convenient at both ends of the island. To those who did “miss the boat” tour – because tickets sold out so quickly – we already are planning an extended tour for you in 2010. Meanwhile, take time to drop by the Historic Cottage on Bay Road and see the photos by air and on land of the history of these places on our island… The “Historic Way”.
