Lee County youth display art work
Young artists across Lee County have been painting, sculpting, drawing and welding, stretching their limits of creativity to prepare for the annual exhibit hosted by the Lee County Alliance for the Arts.
Students from elementary to high school will be displaying work – in every medium imaginable – April 2nd through May 2nd in the Alliance galleries.
Alliance for the Arts and Lee County Arts Education Association both strongly believe that learning and participation in the arts is vital to a child’s personal, social and educational development. Giving youths an opportunity to showcase their work reassures an appreciation and awareness of their artistic ability.
LAEA is a group of volunteer art teachers striving to recognize students work and promote further interest in the arts. Over 45 participating teachers, elementary through middle school will select pieces of work to cover the Alliance gallery walls ceiling to floor.
Entries for the high school division of the LAEA exhibit are juried by art teachers at each school. Once they are on display, judges select the winners in several categories with the first place winners qualifying for best in show and the top artist receiving scholarship opportunities. All high schools in Lee County are eligible for this show.
Do not miss out on the chance to support Lee County’s talented young artists. The Alliance will host an opening reception for elementary and middle school students on April 2nd, 5 to 7 p.m., and a high school reception on April 21st at the same time.
The Alliance for the Arts proudly supports the artists and arts organizations in our area as the state designated Local Arts Agency for Lee County. The Alliance for the Arts galleries are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, located at 10091 McGregor boulevard just south of Colonial Boulevard.
