Sheriff’s Office seeks help in identifying remains

By Staff | Mar 26, 2009

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying remains found along Burnt Store Road near the area of Durden Parkway on Sept. 19, 2007.
Deputies had been called in reference to the discovery of a skull and scattered bones. Investigators confirmed the remains were human.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office generated a composite sketch of the unknown individual a short time later but the man still has not been identified. Investigators are hoping that re-releasing this composite sketch will generate information from the public that could lead to a positive identification.
According to preliminary analysis conducted by the District 21 Medical Examiner, the remains are that of a white or Hispanic male, approximately 30-49 years of age, approximately 5’5” – 5’7″, with the estimated time of death between three to 20 years ago.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000.
