Former Bonita student arrest in bomb threat
A former Bonita Springs Middle School student, recently sent to the Alternative Learning Center for behavioral problems, was arrested after officials say he made a bomb threat March 18.
The 12-year-old is alleged to have made two phone calls – one described as muffled, the other claiming a bomb was in the school. He was questioned and subsequently charged with making a bomb threat.
After the claim, the school was immediately evacuated and a walk through was conducted by Lee County sheriff’s deputies, members of the fire department and a school staff member, officials said.
After law enforcement released the scene, the students were escorted back into the building.
Detectives learned that the call came to the direct phone line of the school’s principal. The principal noted that she had given that phone number to just one student and she recognized the voice, officials said.
