Cape woman and another charged in purse snatching
Cape Coral police have arrested and charged two for their involvement in a reported purse snatching incident Tuesday at the Neighborhood Walmart on Skyline Boulevard.
Jennifer Lynn Disomma, 28, of 4333 W. Sixth Ave., and Joshua James Waugh, 24, of 15802 Keygrass Lane, Fort Myers, have been charged with robbery by sudden snatching for allegedly stealing a purse from an elderly shopper.
On Tuesday, police responded to a report of a purse snatching at the market, located at 3920 Skyline Blvd. The 65-year-old victim told police she was loading groceries into the back of her vehicle when a woman approached her and grabbed her purse.
The victim reportedly tried to hold the purse but was unable to prevent the robber from taking it. The woman reportedly then jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle and drove away.
On Wednesday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office issued an advisory on a robbery that occurred at the Walmart in Lehigh Acres. The suspects and vehicle were the same as the Cape robbery.
The vehicle and suspects were located and detained by the LCSO.
During interviews conducted by detectives, Disomma and Waugh reportedly confessed to the purse snatchings.
Additional charges are pending, officials reported.
