Library Gears Up for All Island Yard Sale
With only days left before the Fort Myers Beach Library’s All Island Yard Sale on Saturday, Feb. 21, library fundraisers are busy collecting donated items to sell with all proceeds going to the library’s construction fund.
“Response from the community has been tremendous,” said co-chair Katie Corning. “Shoppers will find sports equipment, furniture, tools, baby items, collectibles and artwork, linens and more, all in excellent condition and at bargain prices.”
Local artists and crafts people are preparing too as the event, which runs from 8 a.m. until noon will also feature a variety of hand made creations. Unique tie-dyed clothing, handbags, paintings and sculpture, and handmade cards are just some of the items that will be for sale. Jewelry lovers will find necklaces, bracelets, anklets, rings and earrings made from a wide range of materials, including sterling silver, semi-precious stones, beads, hemp and even fishing lures.
“Our space will offer chair massages, bottled water, lollipops (from See’s Chocolates) and a raffle,” reported Joan Martis, one of the participants.
The Friends of the Library will be on hand as well, selling home made baked goods and their popular new cookbook.
Those who would prefer to donate their items for the library to sell may do so any time by putting their small items in the bins at the circulation desk. Larger items may be brought to the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when the Team Swanbeck moving truck is stationed in the parking lot. Pick-up of very large items or quantity donations can be arranged by calling co-chair Karen Swanbeck at 292-6285.
“We’re hoping a lot of people come out to shop at the yard sale on February 21st,” said Swanbeck. “With the arts and crafts items, baked goods, and terrific buys on used items, there’s something for everybody, and the money goes right back into the community as the new addition to our library.”
