If there’s any irony in having a Home and Garden show in the epicenter of the national foreclosure crisis, Bill Anderson doesn’t see it.
As a promoter for The second annual Home & Garden show, which begins today in the Coralwood Shopping Center, Anderson thinks the time is right for homeowners to enjoy this kind of event.
“What we’ve found is, when people are not able to sell their homes, and not able to move, they want to upgrade what they have,” Anderson said. “They’ll be able to enjoy it more, and when they’ll be ready to sell, the value will be greater. If you put a dollar in, you get three back.”
Anderson estimates at least 10,000 people will show over the two-day event, mirroring last year’s totals.
Moved from Club Square in the downtown Cape, Anderson said the new location in Coralwood is better suited to the large number of attendees, with ample parking and plenty of space.
“It was just too crowded last year and the city suggested we relocate,” he said. “This is a great location … we’re expecting at least as many people as last year.”
Coming off a recent home and garden show at Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers, Anderson said this “Cape Coral edition” of the show will draw Cape residents to the spectacle of 83 vendors, live presentations, and special guest Jim Parks, host of HGTV’s “New Spaces” show.
Parks will be giving three seminars over the two days, covering topics including: updating kitchens, updating bathrooms and closets, and green living 101.
Anderson said that every aspect of home improvement will be featured. As he put it, “Floor to ceiling, pool to dock, inside and out kind of describes the event. Literally everything you need will be there.”
Workshops for adults and children, furnishing, accessories, and the newest in home improvement products and services will all be available. The event is free and open to the public.
