More than 40 vendors are lined up for Sunday’s second annual Beauty Bonanza, a celebration of women’s products and services that promote style, self improvement, and success.
Organizer Sally Reese has upped the ante for her second go-round, moving away from the low-key, invitation only approach of last year’s event to something on much larger scale.
Open and free to the public, this Bonanza relies heavily on Reese’s passion to see women in the community become successful.
“The reason I chose ‘Bonanza’ … is because it means a source of wealth or a happening that leads to good fortune,” she said Thursday by phone. “That would really fit where I’m going with this. Success means different things to different people; it could mean a close relationship, being on a spiritual path, or it could mean having a fabulous outward appearance … it goes across the board, it just really depends on what success means to you.”
With more than 40 vendors and multiple demonstrators, there’s a lot to take in during the event’s three-hour run time.
Reese is encouraging people to arrive at 1 p.m. to ensure they have enough time to sample organic foods, learn about body care and business techniques, partake in acupuncture, witness live dance performances, meet local authors, and earn chance at a plethora of door prizes.
Then there’s the opportunity for one lucky lady to be crowned “Queen of the Beauty Bonanza”, who will be showered with a basket full of goodies to last for months.
“I thought it would be really special if one woman was honored,” Reese said. “It’s a challenging economy it’s like: should I pay my cell phone bill or get a manicure? I thought it would be uplifting for one women to pamper herself.”
The event is free, but Reese warns that attendees must be present to win the door prizes.
There also will be a post-Bonanza party of sorts at Leapin’ Lizards, where a private room will be set aside for those who want to follow the beauty with a little bubbly.
For Reese, she just hopes people show up, enjoy themselves, and bring the community together in the process.
“I want people to be involved and learn a lot and stay for the whole thing,” she said. “Its all about working together.”
The second annual Beauty Bonanza takes place at Rotary Park, Sunday, Feb. 8, 1 – 4 p.m.
