Holiday DUI patrols set in Charlotte County

By Staff | Dec 30, 2008

Charlotte County Sheriff John Davenport has announced that there will be saturation DUI patrols out New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day looking for impaired drivers. Extra patrol units of the Traffic Safety Team and road patrol deputies will be watching for those who may drink and drive, or use drugs and drive.
Those who are driving to a party to celebrate the New Year are asked to set up a designated driver in advance to get those back to their homes safely without driving and causing an accident, and enjoy the New Year’s Day.
So far this year there have been 24 traffic fatalities recorded in Charlotte County; in all of 2007 there were a total of 30 deaths.
