Cape Foundation to host VIP Parking, Wine Tasting event

By Staff | Dec 29, 2008

If the Cape Coral Festival of the Arts is not enough to warrant a trip downtown during the weekend of Jan. 10-11, the Cape Coral Community Foundation’s VIP Parking and Wine Tasting event should push the weekend over the top.
Taking place Jan. 11 at Wachovia Bank, the inaugural wine tasting is meant to compliment the art festival, which draws upward of 100,000 people into the downtown corridor.
Winestyles will provide the wine, and Geo’s Italian Restaurant will provide the food. For $50, attendees can eat and drink as much as they want, plus get something maybe even more valuable — a parking spot in jam-packed downtown.
“You can just park your car and enjoy the wine and then go off and enjoy the fest,” said Cape Coral Community Foundation Executive Director Beth Sanger. “Then you can come back and enjoy more wine.”
The wine tasting runs from noon-4 p.m., letting people come and go as they please for the duration.
All money raised from the tasting will benefit the foundation’s grant programs, which benefit non-profit organizations throughout the region and especially in the Cape.
Sanger said if this year’s tasting is a success, the foundation might think of making next year’s tasting span both days of the art festival, which she said is “nationally known.”
“We might just incorporate the entire event and participate both days,” she said. “A lot of our grant money is geared toward the local arts. We feel like we want to support any arts and culture in the Cape.”
There are only 150 tickets available for the event. Once they are sold out, that is it.
“We’re definitely expecting to sell out. People should try to reserve their tickets ahead of time,” she said.
Wachovia Bank is located at the corner of Cape Coral Parkway East and Del Prado Boulevard South. Pre-payment is expected for wine tasting tickets.
