Sobczak, Sanibel author, to sign new book at MacIntosh

By Staff | Dec 24, 2008

Award-winning Sanibel author Charles Sobczak will be signing first-edition copies of his latest novel, “Chain of Fools,” Monday, Dec. 29, 2 to 4 p.m. at MacIntosh Books and Paper, 2365 Periwinkle Way. Refreshments will be served.

“Chain of Fools” is a fictional memoir loosely based on Sobczak’s paternal grandmother, One-eyed Maggie.

In a recent review of the book, Prudy Taylor Board of the Palm Beach Post wrote, “‘Chain of Fools’ is an open and honest book, abrasive and brutal, but genuine. There is such realism that anyone surviving a dysfunctional family can easily relate. And isn’t that most of us?”

In addition, during the book-signing event, MacIntosh Books will be offering all of Sobczak’s earlier titles at a special holiday season price of $10 each. This includes “Alligators, Sharks and Panthers,” as well as the best-selling “Six Mornings on Sanibel.”

For more, call at 472-1447. MacIntosh is the island’s longest-running bookstore, having been in business on Sanibel since 1960.
