Baptist women to host a ‘day away’



The Women of Southwest Baptist Church, Fort Myers, are inviting women in local churches to enjoy a relaxing and fun filled day on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The day will begin with breakfast and there are two workshop sessions, one featuring guest speaker Debra Flynn.

Flynn will speak about her incredible journey from Cape Coral to Dandridge, Tenn., a walk of 874 miles in 66 days where she went from a size 22 to her present dress size, 14.

The cost of the “Day Away” is $20, which includes a continental breakfast and a lunch served buffet style and catered by Panera Bread. Attnedance is limited to 250, so advance registration is requested.

The church is behing Tanger Outlet Mall at 16940 McGregor Blvd. Call 454-3336 to register.



Pioneer Club open to Beach kids



Calling all kids ages four though fifth grade. Pioneer Club is being offered at Faith United Methodist Church at the corner of Old McGregor and Thorton Road (Iona area).

The program is held Wednesday nights from 6 to 7:30 pm.

Pioneer Club is an International Childrens Ministry. The children are awarded based on good Christian behavior and sportmanship.

Grief support group meets



First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs hosts weekly GriefShare meetings every Tuesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Price Hall Parlor.

Each session begins with a brief video followed by an informal discussion. Each meeting is “self-contained,” so you can attend any or all sessions. GriefShare is open to the community. No reservations are needed.

The church is at 9751 Bonita Beach Road.

Shrimp dinners at St. Raphael’s



All you can eat peel and eat shrimp dinners are set for the following dates at St. Raphaels Episcopal Church:

– Jan. 17

– Feb. 21

– March 21

– April 25

Dinner is served from 5 to 7 p.m. and include a drink and dessert. Cost is $15.

Proceeds benefit local charities and St. Raphaels.
