Man sought in Cape robbery
Police continue to search for a man who allegedly robbed a Cape Coral woman at gunpoint in her home Tuesday afternoon.
The woman told police a white man wearing a black hoodie, white shirt and bandanna around his face entered her home on Northeast 17th Avenue at approximately 1:30 p.m. and pointed a gun in her face demanding pills, a police report states.
When the woman told the gunman she did not have any pills, he asked for jewelry. She showed him her jewelry and he made off with a box of hoop earrings valued at $70, the report states. The man fled in a black or blue SUV heading east on Hancock Bridge Parkway.
The man is described as being about 6 feet tall with green eyes and a thin stature. He has several tattoos on his hands and was wielding a black gun, the victim told police.
Forensics specialists recovered several fingerprints from the scene, though a canvas of the area did not provide police with any additional information, officers said. Detectives spoke to one witness who may have seen the man and the man’s vehicle.
The case was still under investigation Wednesday.
Anyone with information about the incident should call the Cape Coral Police Department at 574-3223 or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
