Woman reports home invasion robbery

Fort Myers police are investigating a home invasion robbery in which multiple robbers held a woman hostage overnight and then burglarized her place of employment.
Fort Myers police began investigating the home invasion robbery this morning. According to the victim, the ordeal began Monday shortly after 7 p.m.
The victim says she was out walking her dog when several people, their faces masked and one of them armed, entered her apartment located on Central Avenue. When she unknowingly returned home they held her captive demanding information about her place of employment.
According to police, the victim works at Check Exchange located at 2835 Cleveland Avenue. She told investigators the suspects then tied her up and put her in a van. She gave them the keys, alarm code and safe combination to the business. The suspects entered the store and removed an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects kept the victim in an unknown location overnight and then released her near Corbit Road and Diplomat Parkway in Cape Coral this morning.
The investigation is ongoing and descriptions of the suspects are unavailable at this time. Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area of the Check Exchange around 8 p.m. last night is asked to call the Fort Myers Police Department at 321-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
