By Staff | Nov 20, 2008

Police are looking for a man who attacked a North Fort Myers woman in her home Thursday.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an occupied burglary near the Waterway Estates community at 3:52 p.m., officials said.

Upon arrival, the adult female victim told deputies a white male, believed to be in his 20s, 5’9” to 6’0″ tall with a husky build, wearing a green, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes had entered her home without her knowledge. He proceeded to hold her against her will and committed a sexual battery before leaving the home, possibly out the back of her residence.

Responding deputies established a perimeter and Sheriff’s Office K-9s and the Aviation Unit attempted to locate a suspect. No one was located.

Due to the nature of the crime, detectives with the Special Victim’s Unit of Major Crimes have been assigned to continue the investigation. Crime scene technicians are on scene to collect and document evidence.

Anyone who may know the identity of the person responsible for this violent felony crime, or has additional information, is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 dollars, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
