A Cape Coral man accused of abusing his fiancee’s 1-year-old son will

appear in court today.

Christian A. Jimenez-Colon, 20, of 2137 Coral Point Drive, will appear

before Lee Circuit Judge Mark Steinbeck for a case conference hearing

at 2 p.m.

Police said Colon was babysitting the sick child on Mar. 3 when he

allegedly held the child against a toilet and hit his back forceably,

then pinched his windpipe to “‘help’ the child vomit;” and later placed

the child against the railing of his crib and leaned his full body

weight on him.

The child was taken to the Cape Coral Hospital and underwent emergency

surgery for his injuries.

Colon reportedly told officers he was upset about financial troubles,

which may have contributed to his roughness with the child.

Colon remains in the Lee County Jail on $75,000 bond, according to jail

booking records.
