Marching bands sought for Aviation Day

By Staff | Nov 10, 2008

Aviation Day 2008 will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Page Field General Aviation Airport.

The Lee County Port Authority is looking for area school marching bands who would like to demonstrate their talents and provide a musical backdrop to the day’s activities. Aviation Day is a free, annual community event that promotes education and awareness of the aviation industry in Southwest Florida. The main attraction this year will be a Douglas C-54E used in the 1948 to 1949 Berlin Airlift. Visitors can walk through the plane and view a flying museum and memorial housed in the interior.

Another featured aircraft will be an original P-51D Mustang that began its service in 1945 at Page Field.

For information about the event or to participate, call Angie Strait at 590-4504.
