Police investigate Cape woman’s death in crash
A Cape Coral woman died as the result of a car crash near a south Cape church late Sunday night.
Kristie Nicole Donlon, 24, died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident at around 11:22 p.m. when she lost control of her 2008 Nissan in the private driveway of the Cape Coral Alliance Church.
According to police, the vehicle accelerated in the church driveway for unknown reasons, rotating counterclockwise into a street sign and a tree in a private yard on Southwest 7th Place.
Donlon’s vehicle impacted the tree on the driver’s side. She was pronounced dead on scene.
Officials said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor as the Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the incident.
This is the 10th traffic fatality in 2008 in Cape Coral; there were 13 traffic fatalities total in the city last year.
A funeral service will be held for Donlon Oct. 2, 11 a.m., at Fuller Cape Coral Funeral Home, and family will receive friends Oct. 1 from 4-8 p.m.
Donlon is survived by her parents Jack and Jean and her two sisters, Kimberly and Jacqueline Donlon.
