Lee County records 10th COVID-19 death

The Florida Department of Health confirmed a 10th death in Lee County on April 1. The individual was a 78-year-old male and Florida resident who had no recent history of travel.

Lee County has recorded 245 positive cases of COVID-19 out of 2,609 tested. There have been two cases so far in Fort Myers Beach since the outbreak hit Lee County last month. There have been 128 deaths statewide and there are currently 8,010 positive cases. There have been 77,319 people tested.

At Lee Health, there are currently 45 COVID-19 patients isolated in our hospitals. Lee Helath has discharged 17 patients who had tested positive.Lee Health has184 employees quarantined at home. Eight employees have tested positive for COVID-19 after being exposed at work. Lee Health has 249 patients under investigation.

Lee Health announced Thursday that its 216-bed expansion at Gulf Coast Medical Center has opened and will be serving COVID-19 patients there.
