Fort Myers Beach Town Council to vote on support of Commissioner Pendergrass’s motion to build Arches

November 13, 2019
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

On Nov. 18 at the 9 a.m. meeting of the Fort Myers Beach Town Council, members of the council will be voting on whether or not to support Lee County Commissioner District 2 Cecil Pendergrass's proposed motion to the Lee County BOCC on Nov. 19. His motion is to help Restore Fort Myers Beach Arches, Inc's plan to build a replica of the historic Fort Myers Beach Arches in Crescent Beach Family Park (owned by the County within the Town of FMB). We are excited of the possibility of getting this project going sooner via Lee County.

If the Town Council of Fort Myers Beach votes in favor of this, Cecil will be bringing a motion to the Lee County Commissioners Meeting for Lee Count to Fund, Engineer, Permit and Construct a 60% replica of the original Arches in Lee County's Crescent Beach Family Park at 1100 Estero Blvd.

We are asking our supporters to attend both meetings (in sky-blue T-shirts if possible) and we are hoping the Council and Commissioners will vote with Cecil to fund the saving of our history and return the beloved Arches once again to the landscape of Fort Myers Beach.

Steven Ray McDonald

President, Restore Fort Myers Beach Arches, Inc.
