Stay cool at the Fort Myers Beach Community Pool
Members and non-members alike can enjoy the amenities that the Fort Myers Beach Community Pool has to offer.
The pool offers daily, weekly and monthly passes. They also offer annual and seasonal memberships (six months).
“This is the coolest place to be this summerliterally,” said Alison Giesen, the director of the community pool.
“The pool is wonderful, but we also have a recreational center. We offer so many things that the public may not even be aware of,” said Giesen.
They offer a variety of programs and courses at the facility. Like water aerobics, which is a high intensity course that the aquatic supervisor Erin Johns teaches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-10 a.m. She says that it’s for all ages and that the program has grown immensely.
They also offer lifeguarding courses, CPR and First Aid Certification.
The facility began offering beginner swim lessons on June 3. The swim lessons are on Monday Thursday.
“Through Erin and I, our swim lesson curriculum has been completely revamped. We’re focused on teaching the basic water skills as well as the water safety aspect of it,” said Hunter Vos, the assistant aquatic supervisor and head lifeguard. “It’s very important here in Florida to learn about water safety.”
They offer advanced swimming classes on Sundays that are geared toward competitive swimmers. This class helps swimmers with their technique and stroke refinement.
Vos is currently on Team USA and hopes to swim in the 2020 Olympics. Through his dedication, he inspires those he teaches.
The pool is hosting a junior lifeguarding camp for ages 9-15 that runs from Aug. 5 through Aug. 9.
“This is so kids are aware of why we’re blowing the whistle it’s not to be mean, it’s for their safety,” said Johns. “we’re hoping that we can bring our knowledge as lifeguards to younger kids.”
“We like to incorporate programs that include all ages so that we can better serve our community,” said Giesen.
An aquatic playground is coming to the kiddie pool and it’s set to open by July 4. “We’re very excited to be able to add that in, in addition to the larger slide that we already have” said Giesen. “We’re going to continue to improve all of our facilities.”
The pool is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For scheduling questions, call the Fort Myers Beach Community Pool at 239-463-5759.
