A fully equipped mobile dental unit with two operating rooms is providing free dental care to low-income adults on Fort Myers Beach this week.

The Florida Baptist Convention helps to provide a fully equipped mobile dental unit to communities in Florida to provide dental care to low-income and uninsured people.

The mobile dental unit is a fully equipped bus with two operating rooms, dental supplies and an X-ray machine, providing free dental care to low-income adults.

The bus will be stationed in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church at 130 Connecticut on Fort Myers Beach July 30 through August 3, 2018. For details or to make an appointment call Beach Baptist at 239-463-6452.

The Jacksonville-based Florida Baptist Convention began its first mobile dental ministry in 1973, serving people out of a converted Winnebago camper. The current bus was put into commission in 1998. Since then, it has provided 30-35 weeks of service to various communities each year, said the Rev. Marc Johnston, church and community ministries team strategist for the Florida Baptist Convention. Funding for the unit comes from Florida Baptist church missions.
