Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

Kenneth Dixon Doty, 92, passed away February 9, 2018 at his home in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. The son of Lester and Laurie Doty, he grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois. Graduating from Downers Grove High School a year early, he joined the Army Air Force during World War II. He served almost 3 years in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.

High school sweethearts, Ken and Marjorie "Midge" Baxter were then married and raised their three children in Downers Grove. Ken had a successful career with Monarch Life Insurance Company. He always made time for his family and especially enjoyed visiting relatives in Michigan. Eventually, he and Midge built a home on the lake in Stevensville. Michigan became a hub for many memorable family gatherings. He also loved to travel and with Midge accomplished visiting all 50 states.

Ken and Midge settled in Ft. Myers Beach or as Ken called it Paradise. Enjoying the blue skies and sunshine, he became an avid gardener. They created a stunning oasis enjoyed by family, friends and passers-by. The garden was a daily chore and a fulfilling joy for Ken.
