Cape Coral teen incurs fatal injuries in two-vehicle crash

September 20, 2017
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

An 18-year-old Cape Coral driver was killed over the weekend in two-vehicle accident.

Cape police reported that Jessica Ann Green, of 3316 S.W. 11th Ave., sustained fatal injuries Saturday after an SUV collided into the driver's side of the truck that she was operating and she was ejected.

At about 4:47 p.m., Green was driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup westbound on Southwest 32nd Terrace and approaching Southwest Eighth Court. At the time, Chauncey Ardean Davis II, 52, of 2541 Sawgrass Lake Court, was driving a Volkswagen Atlas SUV northbound on Eighth Court and approaching the intersection.

Police reported that Davis failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded into the Chevrolet's path.

The front of the SUV collided into the left side of the pickup. The impact caused the rear of the pickup to fishtail, first counter-clockwise. As Green attempted to regain control, the truck rotated clockwise.

The pickup rolled over to its left and came to final rest on its roof on the grass shoulder on the north side of 32nd Terrace. Green was ejected and came to final rest on the shoulder adjacent to truck.

The SUV came to final rest on the northwest corner of the intersection shortly after impact.

Green sustained fatal injuries and Davis sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash.
