Test our local water now

Letter to the Editor

February 15, 2017
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the Editor:

The SWFL Clean Water Movement has been pushing for localized testing and to dispense the information of the conditions to the general public right here on Fort Myers Beach. We are asking our town of Fort Myers Beach to conduct independent water quality tests on the beach side to ensure public safety and to inform them with placing QR codes on every single beach access sign where anyone with a smart phone will be able to obtain the current status of our water quality measures. The QR codes will instantly revert back to the town's web page to easily direct all to the water quality tab.

We demand that our greatest ecological mind in Rae Blake be allowed by the Fort Myers Beach town council to let her do her job. The belief from our local Marine Resources Task Force (MRTF) sees this all as the No. 1 priority to update the towns web page as water quality again has been swept under the rug so to speak.

We ask all water quality folks to show up at the Fort Myers Beach Town Council meeting Tuesday, Feb. 21. Show up at 6 p.m. Sharp, the place will be packed! So come early as the show begins at 6:30 p.m. to have YOUR voices here for Fort Myers Beach. It's important to know what is in our water that could very well be dangerous, to ensure safety to our visitors, and to be transparent with the idea of dispensing all scientific research to the general public at large on a daily basis. ?We have a choice in Fort Myers Beach;?Tell the TRUTH. ?Or continue to try to lock the elephant in the room.?We ask the town council to do the right thing:?Test OUR LOCAL WATER NOW and provide the results good or bad to the masses. ?
