The Cockroach That Became King

Letter to the Editor

The Cockroach That Became King

"I see the future," said the seer, as she lit a holy fire full of earth and wisdom.

It spoke of a mad desire.

1,000 moments,

Lost in time.

First came 10,000 children's powdered bones to join the dust.

They lay to rest, still restless.

You were the ones that brought their death.

Dying fish in the sea,

100,000 more because of thee.

So put your name on that.

So put your name, put your name on that.

You teach your sons to kill elephants for fun.

The elephant fell so you could keep his tail.

Who are we to hail put your name on that.

Hail to the chief,

His house is burning down,

And everything around him is ashes on the ground.

The whole world suffered,

'Til it suffered no more.

Take that chump off the floor,

And let him eat what he created,

A dream undignified.

Our one hope denied,

To live, to be.

Your war came because there were no words of peace,

And the war drained everything in reach,

Until it filled the sky. Put your name on that.

Everything died. Put your name on that.

But the cockroach still survived, so put your name on that.

"I see the future," said the seer, as she lit a holy fire full of earth and wisdom.

It spoke of man's desire.

The drummer heard her words as she screamed into the night.

The beat began as they fed the fire light.

The dancers came and spun the winds of change.

The the beat, it stopped.

But quickly came to beat again with the sound of 10,000 children and 100,000 beasts.

These were the first to join,

To keep away the nightmare of your feast.

It didn't take much,

Just rejoice in life and look away.

This kind of monster needs the mirrors of your eyes,

And there were none to watch that day.

The rain which had held back its joy to cry,

Had thought all its tears were gone.

Cried along the shores of life, and life, it carried on.

I see your future, dark and dreary, your plane gets bigger as the world gets weary.

Now a cockroach, too, has a place to be, hiding in the shadows for no one to see,

And in the end of all time is the cockroach's turn to be divine.

But the seer could see, and the dancers danced,

As the wind became the mover, so the trees, too, could prance.

And one child whispered into the ear of fate,

Shine your life, I love you, world.

And the beat goes on.

And the beat goes on.

Young child of the elephant stormed into the room,

Cockroach King tried to run,

Was taken down by the elephant's son.

Elephant had heard the beat, and foot-to-head, they did meet (crunch!).

So put your name on that.
