Robert B. McLaughlin, known as Bob to his many friends, 89, of Fort Myers Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2016 at his residence. He had been a resident of Fort Myers Beach for 35 years, having relocated from Wilmington, DE. He was also a hurricane season resident of Ocean City, MD where he made good use if his crabbing license. Bob was born July 22, 1926 in Durham, NC the second of five sons of the late John and Mary E. (Graves) McLaughlin. He was raised in Washington, DC, where he attended Central High School. Bob was a proud United States Navy Veteran, serving on the USS New York during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Following the war, Bob attended the University of Virginia and graduated from Catholic University with a Degree in Chemical Engineering. His career started with the DuPont Company in 1950. He was the International Marketing Director, opening world markets for DuPont of polyester raw resin. After over 30 years with the company, he left to found RSN, Inc., and establish Fort Myers Beach as home.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Evelyn P. (Wade) McLaughlin; loving children, Richard K. McLaughlin of Avondale, PA, John D. McLaughlin of Juno Beach, FL, Robert W. McLaughlin of Thailand, and Mary Anne (John) Sculley of Hockessin, DE; grandchildren, Lt. Cdr. Robert (Jennifer) O'Donnell and Wade McLaughlin; and great granddaughters, Caroline and Audrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Church of the Ascension, 6025 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931 followed by burial with military honors at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
