Lights, Camera -- 10th annual FMB Film Fest rolls through this weekend

The time has come to celebrate 10 years of independent filmmaking at the 2016 Fort Myers Beach Film Festival, taking place April 20 to 24. "This year is special as not only are we screening new features and film shorts, but we're doing a retrospective with fan favorites from the previous nine years," said executive director Janeen Paulauskis.

The Festival kicks off Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the public invited to the opening ceremony at Beach Theater, 6425 Estero Blvd., followed by full-day screenings.

Throughout the festival, feature films, documentaries and shorts by domestic and international filmmakers will be rolling, which delve into the Holocaust, the streets of Miami, circus families and filmmaking genius' to cover a few of the subjects.

Other components one should not miss are lunch-and-learn workshops with Red Flight Pictures Friday, at 11 a.m.; and the FMB Film Festival Talkfest workshop

Q-&-A with filmmakers, with focus on taking a short to get optioned as a feature, Saturday, at 11 a.m.

These educational workshops give attendees the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals in the industry about the nuts and bolts of filmmaking in a panel discussion format. Tickets for these workshops are $30 Friday and $40 Saturday; both include lunch.

Saturday, April 23

Sunday, April 24

2 p.m.: Closing Awards Ceremony

at Fish Tale Marina, 7225 Estero Blvd.

3 to 9 p.m.: Independent Film Screenings at Beach Theater.

On Friday, come out for fan favorite, Film on the Beach at Outrigger Beach Resort, 6200 Estero Blvd. This event is free and open to the community. Featured is Disney PIXAR's Academy award-winning film, "Inside Out."

Sunday closes out the Film Festival with the awards ceremony at 2 p.m. Immediately following the ceremony the winning films will be rescreened at the Beach Theater.
