Fashion with a Passion -- South-island apparel shop hosts charity trunk show Tuesday

January 22, 2016
Melissa Schneider - Editor (mchneider@breezenewspapers.com) , Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

Proud to offer a way to benefit local charity while allowing patrons to have a fun time with different fashions, Jan Wood, owner of Palmetto's Island Apparel is eager to host a Lisette Trunk Show Wednesday, Jan. 27, taking place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. During the trunk show, patrons of the store can stop in and try on the many styles and patterns of the brand Lisette L Montreal, a clothing company that states its collection trims one down to appear a size smaller ?or more (see some of the styles at right).

Palmetto's will donate $1 to the local 21st Century C.A.R.E. foundation, dedicated to helping locals affected by cancer, for every person who tries on a pair of Lisettes that day, and the Lisette company will then match every donation.

Jan explains the beauty in Lisette. "It's a wonderfully fitting, flattering pant a miracle fit pant that lifts us, pulls us in, tucks us in very slenderizing, very comfortable and very easy care, with full tummy control," she said. "They make you look a size smaller, and there is such a wide variety of styles, colors and patterns."

Both representatives with Lisette and the 21st Century C.A.R.E. foundation will be on hand at Palmetto's that day, with style and fit experts able to find the perfect match for any guest.

Jan, a cancer survivor of 10 years, knows the battles one truly faces when face-to-face, fighting the disease. "I wanted to do something for a truly helpful charity for our beach and Lee County community. Everyone has a fondness for charity, but Lisette is particularly good at giving back, and 21st Century C.A.R.E. is a wonderful local organization dedicated to helping those affected with cancer, offering a financial assistance program, helping patients with travel, child care, groceries, really anything that helps them focus on beating the disease," Jan said. "That is what this is all about to introduce people to the foundation and have a good time."

Lisette will have every style on hand that day including new fashions fresh off the runway.

"You can expect an amazing day because people from Lisette will all be here with all of the styles available, which is great, but it will also be a fit clinic, so we can find just the right fit for you, with different styles, colors and patterns," Jan said. "Come by, meet the designers, the foundation, help raise funds for the cause, and perhaps find a pair of pants perfect for you."

About 21st Century C.A.R.E.

The local 21st Century C.A.R.E. is a not-for-profit charitable foundation dedicated to cancer patients, originally established in 1996 by Dr. Charles Thomas in Asheville, N.C., when a grateful patient bequeathed a generous sum for the purpose of providing cancer education in the community.

In January 2007, a new Board of Directors was elected and the headquarters was moved to Fort Myers. The new board has ambitious plans to further its mission of providing cancer patient assistance, education programs including cancer screening, support groups and contributing to vital cancer research.
