More guns mean more violence

By Staff | Oct 28, 2015

To the editor:

Good people do not need guns. Peace loving people are begging that we stop this now.

Today I made my first donation to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) since the Supreme Court’s decision on gun ownership. That never was about the Second Amendment rights. This was about the NRA’s desire to proliferate gun sales. The NRA ,gun stores ,gun shows ,gun clubs and ranges or making money. There is also a strong gun lobby.

This attraction to guns is the made worse by fear and, with some, a need to eliminate minorities. Our government distributed heavy armor and automatic weapons to police also to control and eliminate minorities.

Increased gun violence in minority communities are mostly by illegal weapons. In white communities, violence is more likely with expensive, legally bought weapons. Gunmen who commit mass shootings have multiple weapons.

We now lead all advanced countries in gun violence. Every year in America nearly 100 children die from unintended shootings. Kids in our country are at least 16 times more likely to be killed in unintended shootings than in other advanced countries. Minority children are more likely to be killed by gun violence than any other cause.

We have a presidential candidate who says more people need to be armed with guns. I am sure he did not get that from a survey in a minority community.

The ACLU made a decision to participate in the suit and now they are conducting a campaign to reduce gun violence.

We must stop the proliferation of guns and violence.

We must stop compounding bad decisions.
