Back to School Slow Down!

August 26, 2015
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

As many District residents and visitors have noticed a new school year has begun. Your community's firefighters are once again working in conjunction with Beach Elementary to remind Drivers of our School Zone on the Island.

Unlike years past, or traffic patterns are significantly augmented with the Estero Blvd infrastructure improvements. With this nuance to our traditional traffic patterns, the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District would like to encourage heightened awareness of the posted speed limit reduction in our School Zone which extends roughly from Lovers Lane to Gulf Beach Road.

The Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District would like to take this time to remind all residents and visitors that school has resumed, and now motorists are sharing the roadway with our community's most precious assets, our children. All District residents and visitors are reminded to allow extra travel time and to expect delays when traveling onto or traveling from the Island.

Collectively, we can all work together to ensure another, safe, healthy and happy school year.

Capt. Ronald L. Martin

Fire Marshal/PIO
