A special program "Growing and Caring for Hibiscus in southwest Florida" is set for Wednesday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m. Members of the Hendry County Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society will share how to have thriving hibiscus in our climate and atmosphere. This beautiful plant can often thrive if one is aware of the little things that can be done when caring for it.

Journey in Illness

Intellectually, many would attest the illness can be time of growth but the practical doesn't make that really so easy. On March 19, Veronica Honey, author of Carolyn, shares what she learned as her family dealt with sickness.

Upcoming Activities

The world of turtles comes alive as Eve Haverfield shares their fascinating world on March 18.

Join Jeanie London as she provides materials and instructions for making a creation with sea shells. You can bring your own shells or use some that are provided. Bring along a glue gun. Pre-register and $5 materials fee.

Writers Group meets again on March 20, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Feng Shui

Learn about arranging space to achieve harmony with the environment and declutter. Nan Grover, Feng Shui certified consultant, will share ideas on March 19.

Space clearing has gotten a lot of news latest as a trend in today's living. Negative influence such as geopathic stress, mechanical devices (such as cell towers, computers), dimensional influences (negative thought forms), stellar influences, and traumatic events like crime or war leave a negative energy imprint on the environment. By removing these negative energies, one's home becomes a healthy place to live.

Booksale

The sale on Saturday, March 21, will start at 9:30 a.m. and go until 12:30 p.m. Sponsored by The Friends of the Library in the parking garage, a variety of titles will be available at minimal prices. If you have donations for the sale, please bring them by Friday noon and we'll also include in the sale.

Thought

"Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul. Joyce Carol Oates.

Reenactment

Stan Malecki will bring Tobias MacIvey, the Florida Cracker Cowboy from "A Land Remembered," alive on March 24. He has a knack for enabling one to appreciate Florida history and have some fun at the same time.

Local Talent

One of the treasures here is the talent available locally. This month we can appreciate both healing for the body and healing for the soul, and some would suggest that attention to both be done daily.

Dr. Nicole Bennett will address how to reduce back pain on March 20. Her practice is able to offer a variety of techniques and approaches.

Capt. Bob Weisman will look at Cuba by boat on March 18, building on his skills as sailing instructor, charter and delivery captain and boat builder.

Library Hours

When we are closed, the hours of operation are included in a recording when you call in. Stop by Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; on Wednesday between 9 and 7; and on Saturday between 9 and 1. We look forward to seeing you.
