To the editor:
We encountered an UPS driver on Estero Boulevard on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at approximately 5:15 p.m. that certainly was not aware of our Town's "Be Aware of Pedestrians" slogan to keep our streets safe for both pedestrians and cars.
When we approached the marked pedestrian crossing just north of Bay Beach Lane on Estero Boulevard, an UPS truck came up on us and continued to drive practically on top of our rear bumper. As we continued on with the flow of the traffic, the UPS driver also continually blew his horn and shook his hands wanting us to speed up in spite of many folks walking along the adjacent sidewalk.
To add insult to injury when we approached the right-hand turn lane for the center of Santini Marina Plaza, the driver accelerated to get along the right side of our car and yelled in a harsh voice, "Bud, this is a 35 mph area not 25 mph." Furthermore, the speed of his right-hand turn into Santini Marina Plaza reflected very little concern for possible pedestrians in the area.
Shame on this UPS driver.
