To the editor:
I got in touch with the organizers for the Art & Poetry Networking show at Sidney & Bernes Art Center on Thursday, and they want to speak about the stolen art to the crowd and of how I am personally going to bat for the kids.
I will speak during the show of how a kid's imagination on display is not even safe from thieves. I pledge to sell my work and take donations during the show to go to the kids art program to add to their supplies and to create yet another panel to be replaced at the missing art slot on the beach. I have even offered the would-be thief a art piece of my own in return of the kids art mural without any repercussions to the individual if returned.
I'm trying to teach that there is good in the bad through forgiveness by doing the right thing and for the kids to understand this as an act of myself standing up for their work and efforts and to not be discouraged by a art thief. One way or another I will help get another art piece up there with and for our island kids.
We don't quit when bad happens. We simply overcome it and make it right.
