The End is Nigh: Beach Pub hosts End of the World Party Friday

By Staff | Dec 20, 2012

The Beach Pub will be hosting an End of the World Party, all day long Friday, Dec. 21. Throughout the day, enjoy live performances from local musicians, along with drink specials and a Chinese lantern display at 9 p.m. Photo by MELISSA SCHNEIDER.

Come hunker down with the rest of the Beach Pub crew as they celebrate their End of the World party at the 1668 I St. location, Friday, Dec. 21, all day long.

Throughout the day, enjoy live music from the Elijah Duo, Tommy V and Adam, Steve “The Lucky Dog” Lutke, and a very special guest performance by Lucky Daizy.

“I think we’re going to be just fine as far as I’m concerned, it’s a great excuse for a party,” said Lou Caleca, Beach Pub co-owner, along with Tim Miller. “Tim and I invite everyone to come on out and have a fun day with us that’s what its all about, live music from 2 to 8 p.m., each band playing two hours straight through, so there are no breaks.”

Drink specials will be offered throughout the day, and at 9 p.m., enjoy a peaceful and ambient Chinese lantern display along the shore, when party-goers let go of a lantern while making a very special wish.

“The Chinese lanterns are made of rice paper and soar into the sky like little hot-air balloons,” Lou said. “People have been doing these ceremonies for thousands of years, and we’re going to get involved in it. It’s a wish ceremony, and any party-goer is welcome to participate in it. They look very cool going up in the sky, and they’re all biodegrable, so they won’t harm our environment.”

Be sure to pick up a commemorative End of the World T-shirt, available in an array of sizes for $15, and also work during T-shirt Thursdays at the Pub, where wearing your shirt gets you two-for-one drinks every Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m.!

So whether you’re ringing in the end of the world or just the start of an amazing new weekend the Pub’s party promises to be a great time! For more information, call the Beach Pub, 765-6102.
